What does fold8 mean?

From the beginning of our design careers we always tested various methods for idea generation and brainstorming. We tried creative games to doing rapid rough sketching and prototyping until we landed on a method that always seemed to garner the best results.

Based on the crazy 8’s method, brainstorming by yourself or as a group;

  1. Fold a sheet of paper into 8 sections

  2. Sketch 8 designs in 8 minutes (works for simple logos to UI design)

  3. Take the best ideas, do another round based on the best ideas

  4. Rinse and repeat, refining until you land on that sketch that hits

  5. Take that sketch and increase fidelity

We stick to this method to this day, thus fold8 Design Studio.
